We know about this extended map size thanks to the Xbox achievement list for Cities: Skylines 2, which was released today.
The maps in Cities: Skylines 2 will supply an enormous 150 buildable tiles allowing players to build and create to their heart’s content without having to get a mod – unless they want to. Pretty soon the modding community jumped in and allowed players to build on all the 81 titles in the game but now with Cities: Skylines 2 it seems like modders won’t have to jump in. In the 2015 game players were allowed to build on maps that consisted of 25 5×5 tiles, however, that just wasn’t enough for other, more skilled players. One of the things that made Cities: Skylines overwhelming for me was also one of the things that everyone else wanted more of: map tiles. Not Cities: Skylines though, that game is another beast altogether. City builders are usually my thing, I’m great at them and find them to be the ultimate cosy gaming experience. I love it so much, and yet, I am so utterly horrible at it that I don’t even understand. Cities: Skylines is my gaming Achilles heel.
